The F-5 was a light supersonic fighter produced by Northrop form the 1960s onwards. It was widely exported and hundreds remain in service around the world. Many were used by the U.S. Air Force as training and aggressor aircraft, while a handful remain in Navy training units today. The F-5E, the second-generation Tiger II, is an enlarged and lengthened version of the F-5A, while the F-5F is a two-seat variant. They retained a single M39 nose cannon, while the F-5F originally received an Emerson AN/APQ-157 radar. In its lifetime, the Tiger II received an upgraded Emerson AN/APQ-159 planar array radar.

Dragon has produced a fine set of 1/144 model F-5 fighters for discerning modelers and collectors. The twin pack features an F-5E and an F-5F. Each model is the product of intensive research and engineering expertise, which ensures they are as accurate as possible. They assemble with ease, and to finish them off, a set of high-quality decals from Cartograf is available. These decals offer various unit marking possibilities, and result in two beautifully decorated Tiger II fighters. Northrop assembled 792 F-5Es and 140 F-5Fs up till 1987, but now modelers have the opportunity of assembling their own 21st century F-5 fighters!
