Dragon’s 1/144 Warbird series has been expanded with the addition of another “1+1” set of helicopters. Item No. 4619 contains a scale model of an SH-60F and an HH-60H, meaning there are two complete miniature helicopters in the box. The twin-engine multi-mission SH-60 Seahawk is the US Navy’s version of the UH-60 Black Hawk. Outfitted for antisubmarine warfare (ASW) and search and rescue (SAR), the SH-60F Oceanhawk variant is a carrier-based version of the SH-60B. The SH-60F carries the AQS-13F dipping sonar as well as Mk.46/50 torpedoes and cabin-mounted machine guns. Meanwhile, the HH-60H “Rescue Hawk” is a derivative that specializes in combat search and rescue (CSAR) and naval special warfare (NSW). It operates side by side with the SH-60F from aircraft carriers, and incorporates a nose-mounted FLIR turret.

Dragon’s 1+1 set offers high-definition molding, with astonishing detail present in every aspect. The shape and form of the helicopters has been beautifully captured, and they even have full cabin interior detail. Markings are provided by the well-known company Cartograf, including colorful CAG markings for a SH-60F from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Six (HS-6) “Indians”. This SH-60F is also fitted with a new cabin door. Interestingly, this particular unit was dispatched to Pakistan to serve as a CSAR detachment at a forward airbase in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The HH-60H kit also depicts a craft from HS-6, and with the external auxiliary fuel tanks added. These two helicopters are ready to scramble from a carrier deck, and thanks to their superior engineering quality, they assemble with consummate ease.
